SUMMARY:Python Crash Courses: Intro to Python
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is being offered remotely via Zoom only.
Registrants will receive a Zoom link\; those on the waitlist will not
receive a Zoom link unless they are bumped up to a registered spot. The day
after the workshop\, registrants and those on the waitlist will receive a
link to the workshop recording.\n\nThe Python Crash Courses workshop series
has two components: Introduction to Python and Intro to Data. The entire
series uses the Anaconda distribution of Python. Those interested in
attending all of the Python Crash Courses should register for both Intro to
Python and Intro to Data. \n\nThe Introduction to Python workshop
introduces basic concepts in the Python programming language such as object
types\, base Python data structures\, file paths\, and flow control (if
statements & for-loops) using the Anaconda distribution of Python. We'll
work through some applied examples. \n\nThis introduction is appropriate
for absolute beginners or those interested in a review. After attending
Introduction to Python\, beginners can continue with Intro to Data\, which
introduces fundamental tools for working with tabular data in Python such
as Jupyter Notebooks\, markdown\, Pandas\, and data visualization packages.
\n\nThose with a good understanding of Python fundamentals may want to
skip the Basics and take only Intro to Data.\n\nThis workshop is offered by
University Libraries and will be led by librarians Phil McDaniel\, Lorin
Bruckner\, Michele Hayslett\, Matt Jansen\, and Rolando Rodriguez along
with Mark Reed from ITS Research Computing. Contact Matt Jansen with any
 questions.\n
