Text and Data Mining with TDM Studio 2: Exporting and Analyzing Metadata
This workshop is being offered remotely via Zoom only. Registrants will receive a Zoom link; those on the waitlist will not receive a Zoom link unless they are bumped up to a registered spot. After the workshop, registrants and those on the waitlist will receive a link to the workshop recording.
Students, researchers, and librarians analyze metadata for a lot of different analytic tasks—What are the emerging trends which PhD and Master students are writing about in their research? How does this compare to my specific institution’s research trends? What are the everyday items which different newspapers talk about in relation to inflation? Does the Detroit Free Press talk more about car companies than the New York Times? What kinds of news make it to the front page of a paper?
In this workshop, we will use TDM Studio to produce a metadata dataset of newspapers or dissertations. We will then show how to export this dataset from TDM Studio and analyze it locally using Excel, Python, and ChatGPT. Participants are encouraged to create an account prior to the workshop at https://tdmstudio.proquest.com/createaccount.
This workshop is offered by University Libraries and will be led by Clarivate representatives. Contact Rolando Rodriguez with any questions.
