Pen, Paper, Presence: A Letter Writing Workshop

As part of the Educating for the Virtues of Attention (EVA) initiative, the Wilson Special Collections Library will host a hands-on letter writing event designed to help students practice mindful attention through reflection and creative engagement. Participants will explore historic letters and writing artifacts from the Library’s collections before composing two letters of their own: one to a friend or family member and one to themselves. With guidance from library staff, students will learn the art of letterlocking, a historic technique for securing correspondence, and will seal their letters by hand. Participants will mail the first letter during the event, while the Library will hold and send the second letter to them several weeks later, offering an opportunity for renewed reflection and connection.

This event is co-sponsored with the Parr Center for Ethics, and counts for CLE credit.
