Working with Spatial Data in R

This workshop is being offered remotely via Zoom only. Registrants will receive a Zoom link; those on the waitlist will not receive a Zoom link unless they are bumped up to a registered spot. After the workshop, registrants and those on the waitlist will receive a link to the workshop recording.

R is a free and open-source way to explore and analyze data, including spatial data. In this workshop, we will introduce you to spatial analysis and visualization techniques in RStudio. We will use packages like sf, tidycensus, tigris, terra, and more to demonstrate typical GIS workflows and produce basic maps.

This workshop is designed for participants with some familiarity with R/RStudio and/or GIS. If you need some additional background, feel free to join our beginR series or our ArcGIS Pro for Beginners workshop earlier in the semester.

This workshop is offered by the University Libraries and will be led by librarians Philip McDaniel and Matthew Jansen
