Cancelled: Computational reproducibility using Jupyter Notebooks: a hands-on workshop for researchers

This workshop has been cancelled.

Computational analyses are playing an increasingly central role in research. However, many researchers have not received training in best practices and tools for documenting and sharing code and data. Jupyter Notebook is an open source research tool used to create a narrative of your analysis and promote transparency and reproducibility of your code.

This is a step-by-step, practical workshop to create and share Jupyter Notebooks with your research code and data. The workshop starts with some brief introductory information about reproducibility. Participants will create documentation using Jupyter Notebooks and learn best practices for sharing code and data using Code Ocean.

*BRING YOUR LAPTOP*

Prerequisites: Participants should bring their own data, code, and laptop. Example data and code will also be available.

Audience: Researchers who use code in their research and wish to share it. Researchers who are interested in using code in future research are welcome but we will not be teaching coding.

Workshop goals:

  • Learn the strengths of Jupyter Notebooks as a tool for reproducible research.

  • Create and navigate through a Jupyter Notebook containing Markdown and Code cells.

  • Submit your Jupyter Notebook for publishing on Code Ocean.
