Periodic Table of the Elements Project Finale

The United Nations has declared 2019 to be #iypt2019—the International Year of the Periodic Table of the Elements—commemorating the system’s 150th anniversary. And January 2019 is the month that a participatory public art project celebrating the periodic table will reach completion at the Kenan Science Library.

Come join faculty, students, library staff and community members to celebrate the finale of the Periodic Table of the Elements project and admire the creation of dozens of contributing artists.

Each participant selected an element and created a representation for it on a 5.5” X 5” wooden tile. Designs range from the literal to the whimsical. The project was inaugurated at the launch of the Kenan Science Library Makerspace in 2016. The completed table measures approximately 5’ X 8’ in size.

Light refreshments will be served at this informal drop-in celebration.
