Burgin Mathews is host of The Lost Child, a downhome roots music radio hour, broadcasting weekly on Birmingham Mountain Radio. His book, Doc (University of Alabama, 2012), is an oral history of Alabama jazz elder Frank "Doc" Adams. His current works in progress include a history of the Birmingham jazz scene and an anthology, The Alabama Music Reader.

This informal program is part of the summer and fall Wilson Library Research Forum. Each program is an opportunity to hear from one or more fellows about research work that draws on the collections and expertise of the Wilson Special Collections Library.
