The Wiki* Monthly Art Edit is an informal gathering to edit Wikipedia, Wikimedia, and Wikidata entries related to art. These sessions provide an opportunity to work together and share tips about editing, with a focus on improving art-related content in these highly visible sources.

No experience is necessary and all are welcome! Training, suggestions, and resources for getting started are provided for beginners.

THIS MONTH'S SESSION:

This month’s session will focus on Wikidata, the collaborative, multilingual, open repository for structured data, which is a sibling project to Wikipedia.

We’ll have two guest presenters from the University Libraries’ Data Strategy and Services department who will speak about their work on a Wikidata project aimed at increasing online visibility for archival materials.

Then we’ll have a demonstration and discussion about how to edit items in Wikidata. We’ll provide a list of suggested artists and curators that participants can work on if they choose, or feel free to bring your own topics to edit!

The rest of the session will be open workshop time for editing and asking questions.

Guest Speakers:

Anna Goslen, Metadata Librarian

Julia Gootzeit, Metadata Specialist

Session Details:

2:00 - 3:00pm: Wikidata “archives at” talk, and How-to-Edit Wikidata demonstration and discussion

3:00 – 4pm: Open Workshop/Editing time
